In Order to Live as an Immortal, I changed a martial artist world to a xianxia world

Chapter 28 - Bai Chen: "You Should Thank Me!"

Chapter 28: Bai Chen: “You Should Thank Me!”

“This…”

“Is this… an immortal inheritance?”

Zhang Sanfeng’s eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the jade tablet before him.

The news of Ying Zheng, the Qin Emperor, acquiring an immortal inheritance and stepping onto the path of cultivation was no longer a secret. Even though Zhang Sanfeng had not left Wudang Mountain in decades, he was well aware of this monumental event.

As someone who had devoted the latter half of his life to Taoism, Zhang Sanfeng had always yearned for the immortal path. Yet, until Ying Zheng’s revelation, stories of immortality were dismissed as fanciful myths. The emergence of Ying Zheng, the first known cultivator, proved otherwise.

Still, Zhang Sanfeng knew that Ying Zheng’s immortal inheritance would remain beyond his reach. All he could do was admire the emperor from afar.

But now, standing within his own mountain home, he had stumbled upon another immortal inheritance.

“Old friend,” Zhang Sanfeng murmured, glancing toward the cave entrance, “I owe you too much now.”

For decades, Zhang Sanfeng had roamed Wudang Mountain unaware of this hidden cave. Even if he had known of its existence, its unassuming exterior would not have drawn his attention.

Without the guidance of the giant turtle, he would never have discovered this treasure trove of immortal wisdom.

From Zhang Sanfeng’s perspective, the turtle was his guiding light toward immortality—a debt of gratitude he could never hope to repay.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Elsewhere, perched on a cliffside within Wudang Mountain, Bai Chen smirked as he observed Zhang Sanfeng through his divine sense.

“Gratitude to the turtle?” Bai Chen chuckled softly. “No, old man, you should be thanking me.”

After learning of Zhang Cuishan’s return to the Central Plains, Bai Chen had left Seven Heroes Town and arrived at Wudang Mountain.

His goal was clear: to ensure Zhang Sanfeng found the immortal path. However, Bai Chen preferred to remain behind the scenes.

The giant turtle had provided the perfect opportunity.

In truth, the turtle, while extraordinary, was not as miraculous as Zhang Sanfeng believed. Its intelligence had been relatively low until Bai Chen expended 100 units of Creation Force to awaken its latent spiritual awareness. Using his Nascent Soul-level divine sense, Bai Chen subtly influenced the turtle to lead Zhang Sanfeng to the cave.

[Nascent Soul (练气化神): A mid-level stage in xianxia cultivation. Those at this level have developed immense spiritual power and can manipulate the environment with their divine sense.]

For Bai Chen, this was a trivial task. At his cultivation level, even the land immortal Zhang Sanfeng would be unable to detect his presence.

Bai Chen had also taken care to obscure his location by casting a simple illusion array.

His gaze lingered on Zhang Sanfeng, who was already immersed in the Xuanwu Scripture.

The Xuanwu Scripture was a cultivation manual Bai Chen had specially designed for Zhang Sanfeng. Though initially considering a celestial-level manual, Bai Chen decided against it due to the significant expenditure of Creation Force such a manual would require.

Instead, he crafted the Xuanwu Scripture as a Void Fusion-level technique, complete with three foundational stages. This allowed Zhang Sanfeng to progress to the peak of the Refining Void stage.

Unlike Ying Zheng’s Scripture of Creation, which offered only two layers of cultivation, the Xuanwu Scripture was more comprehensive.

“Let’s see,” Bai Chen murmured. “After finishing his cultivation, will Zhang Sanfeng reach mid-stage Nascent Soul, or even late-stage?”

Given Zhang Sanfeng’s current strength as a land immortal, Bai Chen expected him to easily convert his internal energy into spiritual energy and step into the early Nascent Soul stage. With the jade tablet’s auxiliary power, mid-stage Nascent Soul was a certainty.

Bai Chen rose from his perch, glancing toward the cave.

“Half a month until the centennial celebration,” he mused. “By then, Zhang Sanfeng will undoubtedly have completed his cultivation. I wonder how he’ll deal with those martial artists pressing him for the Dragon-Slaying Saber.”

Bai Chen chuckled at the thought.

“Their reactions will surely be entertaining.”

With a soft sigh, Bai Chen vanished into the ether.

While land immortals might not detect him, a newly minted Nascent Soul cultivator like Zhang Sanfeng could eventually see through his illusion array. Bai Chen had no intention of letting that happen.
